Success Stories

Some of our favourite animal photos sent in by their new families. Lucky animals finding homes and many more still needing homes..

We first set eyes on our black ball of fur with white socks at the Little Princess adoption day. Tuxedo was the first cat we saw that day, and the one we eventually left with. He was so sweet and docile, he really was the only choice. And the adorable drawing of him done by Hayley, his previous owner, helped, and it now hangs on our fridge!

We brought him home and he immediately ran for cover under the bed. We didn't expect to see him for the next few days but, to our surprise, he was roaming the flat a few hours later. It only took a few days for him to get affectionate and a few days more before he started cuddling us to sleep.

Now we can't imagine being without him, not being welcomed home by him after a long day at the office or having him to warm up the bed on cold winter nights.

Lizzie

Lizzie is a true sweetheart and such a personality. She is so lovable and such a fighter, even after major surgery she has fought through and her personality shines. She wakes up enthusiastic every morning and she follows me everywhere I go. She is a very vocal cat and will talk to anyone whether following you round the house or sitting on your lap. She loves to have cuddles and kisses and will sit on your lap upon request if you sit on the sofa she will be on your knee in a matter of seconds. If you give her any kind of fuss she will be happy to return the favour and will begin grooming anything in sight and enjoys to play fetch like a dog. She is a truly special little cat.

Feline Fetish Night on Tuesday 8th Dec 09

A week from tonight, and a week today that Indiana's kittens were born :) HK Alley Cat Watch will be hosting their Feline Fetish Party at Solas on Wyndham Street. I'm hoping that the turn out will be good and that we will make enough money to continue to helping more cats who come our way. Hopefully my restless nights leading up to the night will be well worth it!

For our big fundraiser this year, we have had a great response with sponsorship and volunteers. As always our parties are usually something to remember and certainly not boring and this year will be no exception. We will be hosting a date auction, I was dubious about doing a second one, but as I had a couple of girlfriends offer themselves up on the night, so I didn't want the pussycats to miss out on this opportunity and nor the chance for some lucky guys to bid for these lucious ladies.

We had our fitting last night for the shooter girls at Showtime lingerie (http://www.showtimelingerie.com/ and the girls had a lot of fun trying on their outfits for the night (also kindly sponsored by Stefanie & Showtime). Picture swinging around the shop pole and girls in knee length stockings giggling at all the naughty novelties - not us! *blush blush :) They look every part of the Sexy Shooter girls that we had anticipated and I'm sure they will be more than capable of whipping up more than a few punters for some extra cash!

We hope that everyone will arrive between 6-8 pm, we will start the date auction and draw prizes after 8 pm, so people get there early to pick up your tickets and start drinking. A percentage of the nights taking will be donated to HK Alley Cat Watch. A big shout out to all our sponsors for the evening and our volunteers who without all of you the night would not be possible, including the lads at Solas for allowing us to host their first ever animal welfare event at their venue. We musn't disappoint, so please come down and show your support.

Find below our Press Release for the night.

Indiana and her little Indians....

Indiana came to me earlier this week she was heavily pregnant and living in a market area in Mongkok. Her rescuer Suzanne did good to cat nap her and get her off the street.

We couldn't find a foster with such short-notice, so Indiana gave birth at my home, less than a week after her arrival. I was lucky enough to watch one of the kittens being delivered on Tuesday night, that was pretty adorable and I'm sure would melt the hardest of hearts.

I've taken about 400 photos of them all now since they were born on Tuesday and probably boring everyone to tears, but they are so cute. It's my responsibility now to find homes for 5 little ones, that can leave me feeling a little over whelmed, just the pressure of finding them good homes, and people who won't adopt them on a whim and turf them out as and when life isn't going their way!

This is the photo that I'm most proud to have been able to have caught on camera. The delivery of her third kitten, she delivered 5 in total. I think this has really got to be a pretty amazing picture. The kittens are adorable. I have to start thinking of names for them, as I'm not that creative when it comes to cats names, or names in general.

Crazy Cat People

My first blog where I can waffle to people wherever and if anyone is listening out there and cares, can get some insight into what it's like having to deal day in and out in the cat world. This isn't meant to be a whinging blog, but at the end of the day - it's good to vent...My main purpose is to get as many animals homed, at the same time. If you read this and you think my waffling is about you - it probably is.

The hardest thing about trying to rehome so many animals, isn't actually the animals, it's having to deal with people. Patience is not something that comes easy to me and never has.

I think i'm going to dedicate this blog to myself and my sanity or lack there of. I do believe that people involved in animal welfare, all over the world probably have to be slightly barmy. If you think about it, where do you think the phrase "crazy cat lady" derived from? Probably me! Who on earth would want to riddle every corner of our home with these addictive fur balls.. hoarders you say?? .. perhaps... some people collect art, others collect cats... Cats always get such a bad wrap. It's either Team Cats, or Team Dogs... or in my case the whole team and army of animals whatever they may be.

Why do we make our lives more difficult and complicated than it really should be? Lord knows, because we have to. Because without it we wouldn't feel like we were contributing to life itself. Maybe we just prefer animals to people.

It goes without saying that every day we strive to find homes for these fur balls... and not a day goes by where I wonder whether the cats we've rehomed will get as much love and attention as they would have done in my cat shack.... i have to think that they would be otherwise it would make this all kind of pointless.
